Overview

With out of bounds on the left, you’ll want to play to the right—but too far right and a large tree will block your shot.

Plan & Play

The Ōhito Course is of a high enough standard to host professional tournaments. Its Signature Hole, the 16th, is a slightly dogleg par 4.
While the fairway is relatively flat up to the midpoint, out-of-bounds lie to the left, and large trees line the right side, creating a sense of narrowness that demands precision.
Maintaining position in the center of the fairway while managing risks on both sides is the key to scoring well.
This hole tests a golfer’s accuracy to the fullest.

Tips

Due to the course layout, the out-of-bounds on the left comes into play quickly, so it is wise to make use of the wider right side. Aim your tee shot at the right side of the fairway.
For the second shot, beware of the guard bunker protecting the front left of the green and the longer distance required.
A safer play is to approach from the right side.
Since the green slopes to receive shots, attacking from the front is recommended.
