Designated by the government as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings, the Takehara Historic Preservation District is a charming area lined with Edo-period townhouses and temples. Strongly retaining the atmosphere of its prosperous days of sake brewing and salt production, the district is dotted with museums, cafés, and workshops, allowing visitors to catch a glimpse of the bustle of the past. It is a place where simply walking through the streets lets you feel the depth of history.

Known as the Setouchi Tashōbi , this one-of-a-kind view is truly exceptional—offering new impressions each time you visit, from the clear blue of daytime to the crimson hues of sunset. Standing on a hilltop overlooking the historic district, this temple hall, built in the Edo period, is a symbolic presence of Takehara. Adjacent to Hiroshima Airport, this approximately 6-hectare Japanese garden is designed in the traditional pond-strolling style, combining artificial hills, streams, and ponds. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy seasonal beauty—cherry blossoms and wisteria in spring, irises in early summer, colorful foliage in autumn, and snowy landscapes in winter. Within the garden, you will also find an observation deck and a teahouse, making it a perfect place for both leisurely strolls and peaceful rest.
